Ben and I met with Mike to plan his secret proposal a few weeks before we were scheduled to photograph his and Alex’s maternity shoot. He joked that they had done it all backwards: the baby, the wedding (we’re photographing their elopement later this month!), then the proposal; he wanted to surprise Alex with a ring at their session before they eloped! We arrived on location with the guise of a maternity session. It was pretty blustery, but this is New Mexico in April, so we weren’t surprised, and to be honest, the wind created a really beautiful environment in which to shoot! Once we were nearly done photographing them, Mike got down on one knee and completely surprised Alex with a proposal that was totally sweet and incredibly romantic! We were so honored to have had a role to play in this moment, and we truly can’t wait to be there to capture their upcoming union! It’s genuine stuff like this that really makes this job worthwhile!
